LaToya Asher, DPT, Pilates Instructor

LaToya S. Asher has practiced physical therapy for 13 years. She received her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy in 2004 from the University of Maryland Baltimore and a few years later she earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in 2007.  Dr. Asher is a dedicated life learner and has taken many continuing education courses that include Maitland Australian Physiotherapy Seminars that focus on peripheral & orthopedic manual therapy and Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute to evaluate and treat Sacroiliac Joint and Pelvic Ring.  Dr. Asher also holds a Certification for Kinesio Taping and has completed the Integrative Dry Needling Foundation Course – Neurologic Dry Needling for Pain Management and Sports Rehabilitation.

The Perfect Union: Rehabilitative Pilates

In the summer of 2001 Dr. Asher was introduced to Pilates through Polestar Comprehensive Pilates Curriculum at the exact time she entered PT school. She made the difficult choice to postpone her studies of the Pilates method and focus on PT school. Over a decade later, after practicing PT for nearly 6 years she returned to Polestar and earned a Rehabilitation Pilates Practitioner Certificate in 2015. Dr. Asher immediately felt the chemistry between Pilates and PT and her physical therapy practice shifted to a synergistic relationship between the two that transformed how she would use the Pilates Method repertoire to do meaningful neuromuscular work to rehabilitate movement dysfunction.

A Unique Integrative Approach to physical therapy

Dr. Asher’s personal history of chronic orthopedic injuries combined with a methodical treatment approach within the Pilates Based PT model offers patients a greater opportunity to make a critical improvement in their body’s physical performance. Whether the goal is to alleviate pain, restore movement, build strength, or return to sports, she will collaborate with the patient and their health care team when necessary to get the patient well and beyond. Dr. Asher is dedicated to developing herself as a health practitioner and when she isn’t practicing PT, training Pilates, or mentoring, then she is constantly being led to find additional avenues to help her patients and clients prime the body to heal itself.  She is currently enrolled in IIN Health Coaching Program as she believes in treating the whole person.

When she is not at the studio, Dr. Asher and her husband Cliff are enjoying raising two beautiful girls Logan & Clarke-Baylie. She also enjoys snuggling with the newest member of the family their Cavapoo Zen, exercising, listening to music, hearing girls sing, and exploring new foods.

Sandra Wiseman, Energy Medicine Practitioner

Sandra has been involved in alternative forms of healing since the early 70s. After attending many workshops and retreats for Ayurvedic healing during the 70s and 80s, it became clear every person has untapped power within themselves to restore their health. Though these alternative forms of healing were available at that time, one had to search to find them. Through multiple synchronicities, her quest for personal wellness led her in the 90s to her first introduction to energy medicine and to forms of Chinese healing techniques.  In an ongoing quest to understand the healing potential of energy systems in the body, she has been drawn to a number of healers.

After two years of extensive training with Donna Eden and InnerSource, Sandra became a certified Energy Medicine Practitioner.  Through this training that began nearly a decade ago, Sandra has learned to work with the nine energy systems of the body to help bring balance to individuals by removing energy blocks which thereby allows the body to heal itself.  She has received additional Energy Medicine training in fields related to Brain Health, Heart Health, Hormone Health, and Energy Psychology of Essential Oils. She has certification in Emotional Freedom Technque (EFT) and is past-president of BattleTap which was formed to use EFT to help warriors suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  She played an integral role in initiating a study by the Veterans Administration (VA) to use BattleTap/EFT to treat PTSD.  She is delighted that after many years of  examination, it has been approved as a treatment for veterans through the VA.
Sandra is also  certified as an Integral Qi Gong Practice Leader through the Institute of Qi Gong and Tai Chi (Roger Jahnke).  She has achieved her First and Second Degrees in Reiki Jin Kei Do, is certified in basic Bioenergy Healing with Mietek Wirkus (a Polish Bioenergy Practitioner), and has obtained certification at the practitioner level of the Clendenning Technique of energy healing with New Zealand healer Geoffrey Morell.
