Pilates Plus Wellness Center is pleased to offer classes in this ancient form of martial arts and alternative form of exercise.

Tai chi is based on the Chinese philosophy that the breath that delivers life (called your “chi”) is at the center of all health. Tai chi is reported to enhance health by aligning the body to maximize the flow of chi through slow, deliberate movements.

Develop your coordination and relaxation

Traditional tai chi uses low-impact leverage through your joints, instead of muscle stress, to increase your circulation and strength. Each methodical repetition of movement boosts your circulation, lymphatic flow, and other metabolic functions while the associated meditative state quiets your mind.

Pilates Plus Wellness Center tai chi classes focus on the five important areas of concentration: breathing, central equilibrium, circular motion, coordinated movement, and translation/rotation)

Our tai chi classes fill up quickly! People attend our classes from Upper Marlboro, Brandywine, and Bowie (and all over Prince George’s County), as well as from the communities of Lothian and Dunkirk.
